TOKYO LOVE DISTRICT
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 26, 2026
Tokyo Love District respects the privacy of readers, subscribers, clients, and visitors. This policy explains the information we collect, why we use it, when providers may process it, and how to contact us.
It covers tokyolovedistrict.com, editorial content, forms, event submissions, newsletters, and private guiding and itinerary-planning inquiries. This version is published on tokyolovedistrict.com for review. We aim to handle requests responsibly, especially when they concern sensitive interests or travel arrangements.
1. Who we are
Tokyo Love District (TLD, we, us, or our) is an independent publication and private guiding service operated by June Lovejoy in Japan, covering Japanese nightlife, adult entertainment, alternative culture, and travel experiences.
Privacy contact: junelovejoyprime@gmail.com or our Contact page. Business contact address: 〒171-0022 東京都豊島区南池袋 3-13-9-306; 3-13-9-306 Minami-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo 171-0022, Japan.
2. Information we collect
- General inquiries: name, email address, inquiry category, and message.
- Private service inquiries: requested service and experience, travel dates, destinations, group size, guiding date and duration, budget, interests, and optional details. Optional fields can include dietary needs, allergies, comfort levels, venue boundaries, tattoos relevant to onsen access, language preferences, and practical access needs.
- Editorial and event submissions: contact information, event and venue details, pitches, and materials you send in correspondence. The current public Contact form does not include a file-upload field.
- Newsletter records: email address, confirmation and subscription status, consent records, unsubscribe information, and relevant delivery and abuse-prevention records. Buttondown may also process technical information such as an IP address when you sign up. Email-open and link-click tracking are turned off. Historical engagement records from before that change may remain with Buttondown.
- Technical records: IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, browser and device information, security events, and diagnostic information associated with operating the site.
Do not send payment-card details, identity documents, intimate histories, or information unnecessary for your request. Do not provide another guest’s private information without their permission.
3. How we use information
We use inquiry information to respond, assess requests, prepare quotations, research itineraries, coordinate agreed services, and communicate about arrangements. We use submissions to review possible editorial or event coverage and discuss permitted publication.
We use newsletter records to confirm and administer subscriptions, send the newsletter, and honor unsubscribes. Technical records support delivery, security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. Relevant correspondence and transaction records may also be needed for legal obligations and disputes.
An inquiry does not enroll you in the newsletter. An inquiry about a sensitive interest is not permission to market to you about that interest.
4. Sensitive interests and practical needs
Requests concerning nightlife, BDSM, queer culture, health, allergies, or accessibility can reveal private information. Some information, including health or disability information, may have additional legal protection. A venue interest does not necessarily describe your identity or personal life, and we do not ask you to label yourself.
Share only what is useful to your request. Optional fields can be left blank. We use relevant details to assess suitability and plan a comfortable experience. Where possible, describe a practical requirement without a diagnosis or intimate details.
Where additional consent is required, we will ask before collecting or using the relevant information. Sensitive needs should not be passed to a venue or another person without discussing what is necessary and obtaining the permission required by law. You can ask to discuss a requirement through a different channel.
We aim to limit unnecessary access and disclosure, but electronic communication cannot promise absolute confidentiality. Contact us to correct or remove optional details already supplied.
5. Newsletter subscriptions and tracking
Our newsletter uses Buttondown. Subscriptions are voluntary. New subscribers receive an email and must confirm to complete the subscription. Each newsletter includes an unsubscribe option; you can also contact us for help.
Email-open and link-click tracking are turned off. We do not use Buttondown’s optional open-tracking pixel or click-tracking analytics for new newsletter sends under the current settings. Delivery, subscription confirmation, unsubscribe, and security functions can still process technical information. Turning off engagement tracking does not necessarily erase historical records collected while it was enabled.
Website cookie choices are separate from newsletter subscription and email settings. You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter or contact us for help. If we later propose enabling optional engagement tracking, we must update the notice and obtain any consent required before doing so.
Buttondown processes subscription information in the United States and uses its own providers. See Buttondown’s Privacy Policy and subprocessor list. Tour and Contact inquiries are not automatically sent to Buttondown.
6. Cookies, analytics, and embedded content
WordPress uses cookies for functions such as authenticated administration. Age Gate can remember age confirmation for up to 365 days when the visitor chooses its remember option. Security functions may use cookies to protect logins and distinguish legitimate activity. These functions differ from optional audience measurement or advertising.
The review found YouTube embeds, Google Maps on event pages, and Facebook-related scripts. Loading these services can disclose IP address, browser details, and the requested page, and may permit cookies or recognition through an existing account. External photographs and avatars can also disclose ordinary connection information to image hosts such as Unsplash, Pexels, Gravatar, or social-media image providers.
No standalone audience-analytics or advertising-pixel integration was identified on the pages reviewed. Newsletter email-open and link-click tracking are turned off. This is not a claim that all external providers process information anonymously or that the site uses no cookies or technical records.
The staging site uses Complianz privacy choices to block supported optional maps, videos, and social scripts until you allow external media. You can choose Essential only, allow optional content, or change the external-media category through Privacy choices. Tests on an event map and a YouTube article verified blocking before permission. External image delivery is described separately above and is not covered by a claim that all external connections are blocked.
Browser controls can restrict cookies and external resources. Blocking essential functions may affect age verification or sign-in. An external link opens the third party’s own service and privacy choices.
7. Providers and sharing
Providers deliver the functions described here. Their legal role depends on the service and applicable law.
- Hostinger: hosting and related server delivery and operational records.
- Google Gmail: our inquiry mailbox, which receives form submissions and subsequent correspondence.
- Defiant / Wordfence: firewall, malware scanning, and security analysis. The configuration includes visitor-IP location lookups through Wordfence servers and security traffic records.
- Buttondown: newsletter confirmation, delivery, subscription administration, and abuse prevention. Historical engagement records from previously enabled tracking may remain subject to its retention arrangements.
- Embed and image providers: Google/YouTube/Maps, Meta/Facebook, and image hosts receive connection information when their resources load.
- Complianz: consent choices and local cookie/script blocking. Its optional external scan and cookie-database account connections were not enabled.
WordPress, Blocksy, The Events Calendar, and Contact Form 7 provide site software. Installation alone does not mean every developer receives submissions. Our Contact Form 7 forms email submissions to our mailbox; no separate form-submission database plugin was identified. Server records, email systems, and backups may still retain information.
Jetpack, HubSpot, Mailchimp for WordPress, and Akismet were installed but not connected to operational accounts in the reviewed settings. The contact forms had no active Brevo, reCAPTCHA, Turnstile, or Stripe integrations. We do not describe disconnected integrations as active processors.
We may share necessary details to carry out arrangements you request, with appropriate notice and permission where required. We may also disclose information when lawfully required, to protect people or legal rights, or with consent. A general inquiry is not permission to disclose sensitive preferences to a venue.
8. Payment information
The website collects inquiries without automatic payment checkout. Any payment is arranged separately after the service and booking requirements are agreed. Instructions should identify the method, relevant provider, and privacy information before payment.
Do not send full card details or financial credentials through our forms. Quotations, invoices, payment confirmations, and related correspondence may be kept for agreed services, disputes, and legal or accounting obligations. No active WooCommerce shop or online card processor was verified.
9. Retention
No fixed deletion periods have been adopted for inquiries, client correspondence, planning records, or editorial submissions. Retention depends on the record’s purpose, ongoing requests or relationships, necessary follow-up, legal and accounting duties, and disputes. Sensitive details should not be kept merely because they might be useful someday.
Newsletter records are kept to administer subscriptions. After unsubscribe, Buttondown may retain suppression and related records needed to honor that choice, protect the service, or meet applicable obligations. Unsubscribing does not necessarily delete every record immediately.
Wordfence Live Traffic is configured for security-related traffic only, with a maximum age of 30 days and a maximum of 2,000 rows. Other hosting, email, backup, or provider records may have different settings. This is not a promise that all site data is deleted after 30 days.
Ask us about a particular record or request deletion using the contact below. We will consider applicable rights and lawful reasons for retention.
10. Security
The site uses HTTPS and other protections. Administration and the inquiry mailbox should be accessible only to authorized people. We seek to collect only necessary information and respond appropriately to security concerns.
No website, email service, or storage system is completely secure. Please contact us about suspected exposure or misdirection. Any applicable breach-reporting or notification duty remains in place.
11. International processing
TLD operates in Japan. Buttondown’s processing terms identify processing in the United States. Other providers may process information in Japan or other countries depending on infrastructure, support, and subcontractors.
Hosting location, Gmail storage arrangements, and all relevant processing countries have not been confirmed. Staging review note: provider arrangements, applicable contracts, and transfer safeguards require verification before this policy is final. A privacy-policy link alone does not establish a lawful transfer mechanism.
Where Japanese law or another applicable law requires information, consent, or safeguards for an overseas transfer, that requirement must be satisfied before transfer. We do not claim that every provider stores all information in Japan.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances, Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) provides rights concerning notification of purposes; access to retained personal data and relevant third-party provision records; correction, addition, or deletion of inaccurate information; and cessation of use, erasure, or cessation of third-party provision on grounds provided by that law. Conditions and exceptions apply.
Other laws, including GDPR or UK GDPR, may provide additional rights where they apply to the processing concerned. An English-language website alone does not establish that every regional law applies.
Send requests to junelovejoyprime@gmail.com or the Contact form. Identify the information or interaction concerned and the action requested. We may ask for proportionate verification of identity or authority; please do not initially send an identity document.
We will address requests under applicable law and explain relevant exceptions or retention duties. No standard request fee or fixed response period is set by this policy. You may contact Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission or another competent authority where applicable.
13. Age and children’s privacy
The publication discusses adult subjects without treating every article as explicit content. The site uses age restrictions; private guiding is offered to guests aged 18 or older. Particular venues and activities may have higher limits.
We do not seek private-service inquiries or newsletter subscriptions from children. Contact us if a child has supplied information so we can assess and address it appropriately. The current inquiry and newsletter forms do not ask for a full date of birth.
14. External links and publication
Venues, ticket sellers, organizers, social platforms, and other linked sites have their own privacy practices. Review them before providing information or paying. An external service may recognize visitors already signed into it.
Messages are not automatically published. Intended use and necessary permissions should be established before publishing an identifiable person’s submission or photograph. Do not send confidential material that you have no right to share.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when services, technology, or obligations change. The approved page will show the actual Last Updated date. Significant changes will be communicated in a way appropriate to the change and applicable requirements; we do not claim every reader receives individual notice.
