TOKYO LOVE DISTRICT
Terms of Use
Last Updated: October 26, 2026
Welcome to Tokyo Love District. These Terms of Use govern access to our website, editorial content, event listings, and related online services. We are an independent publication and private guiding service focusing on Japanese nightlife, adult entertainment, alternative culture, and travel experiences.
By using this website, you agree to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. Paid services require a separately agreed scope, quotation, payment requirements, and booking terms.
1. About Tokyo Love District
Tokyo Love District (TLD) is an independent publication and private guiding service operated by June Lovejoy in Japan. Our publication includes articles, interviews, venue guides, event listings, cultural reporting, and recommendations about Japanese nightlife, adult entertainment, alternative culture, and travel.
Our private services include personalized bilingual guiding, cultural introductions, itinerary planning, and event research. Private services require a separately agreed scope, quotation, availability, booking requirements, and service terms.
2. Age requirements and adult-oriented content
Some editorial content discusses adult-oriented subjects. Access must comply with applicable law and any age restriction displayed on the site or particular content. Private guiding is offered to guests aged 18 or older. Venues and activities may require a higher minimum age, identification, reservations, or other admission conditions.
Being 18 does not permit drinking alcohol in Japan; the legal drinking age is 20. Follow local law and each venue’s requirements. Admission to any venue is never guaranteed.
3. Editorial information and accuracy
We aim to publish useful, accurate information. Opening hours, prices, schedules, admission conditions, reservations, venue rules, and available services can change after publication. Please verify important details with the venue or organizer before traveling, booking, or buying tickets.
Editorial content provides information and cultural context. Coverage does not by itself establish an endorsement, partnership, or guarantee. This section does not exclude any responsibility that applicable law requires us to accept.
4. Third-party venues and events
Venues, performers, organizers, ticket sellers, and other independent businesses are responsible for the services they provide. Their own admission, ticketing, conduct, cancellation, safety, and photography rules may apply. Confirm those rules before making arrangements.
Our responsibility for our own guiding, representations, and agreed arrangements remains subject to the client agreement and applicable law. A third party’s separate responsibility does not automatically remove ours.
5. Private guiding and itinerary planning
Every guided experience is personalized. Signature experiences are starting points rather than fixed itineraries. Services depend on availability, suitability, venue access, and agreement on the practical arrangements.
An inquiry, proposal, or unmarked calendar date does not reserve a date or confirm a booking. Guiding blackouts apply only to in-person guiding; remote planning may still be requested. A booking is confirmed only when we have agreed the service details and booking terms, the required acceptance and any payment requirements have been completed, and TLD has sent written confirmation. See Private Tours for current service information.
6. Planning packages and additional work
The Custom Planning Package costs ¥10,000 for up to two hours of personalized research and itinerary planning. It includes one consolidated round of clarification about the work delivered. This is not unlimited consultation or new research.
Additional planning costs ¥5,000 per hour. Examples include new venue or destination research, new questions requiring investigation, significant itinerary revisions, research caused by changed preferences, and further reservation assistance requiring additional work. We will agree the added scope and charge with you, and additional planning must be approved and paid for before it begins.
Essential coordination needed to finalize an agreed guided tour is handled under the relevant service arrangements. We will explain any additional charge before asking you to approve it.
7. Guided tour services
- 1–2 guests: ¥40,000 for a four-hour minimum, then ¥10,000 per additional hour.
- 3–4 guests: ¥60,000 for a four-hour minimum, then ¥15,000 per additional hour.
- 5 or more guests: an individual quotation.
- The standard ¥10,000 planning fee is additional to guiding rates.
Venue fees, admission, tickets, food, drinks, transportation, accommodation, and activities are not included unless the written quotation expressly includes them. Any other charge must be disclosed and agreed in advance. No separate late-night surcharge is established by these Terms.
Guiding, interpretation, and cultural accompaniment do not include personal sexual or adult services. We cannot guarantee admission, another person’s participation, or a particular experience.
8. Payments and booking confirmation
The ¥10,000 planning package is paid before research begins. Once the guiding proposal is agreed, the full guiding fee must be paid before the date is secured. Approved additional planning and agreed out-of-Tokyo travel or accommodation costs are paid before the relevant work or commitment. This website does not collect automatic payments.
The written quotation must state the scope, total price, applicable tax treatment, payment method, due dates, cancellation calculation, and any outside expenses before the client accepts or pays. No date is reserved merely by an inquiry or tentative proposal. A booking is confirmed after the agreed requirements are met and TLD sends written confirmation. Do not send card details through a form.
Planning, guiding, additional planning, and third-party costs are separate items. Outside costs are the client’s responsibility only as disclosed and agreed; no new surcharge can be introduced after acceptance without agreement. Any payment provider and its relevant terms will be identified in the separate payment instructions.
No digital-product shop or automatic checkout is operational under these Terms. Future product sales require separate purchase information and applicable consumer disclosures before launch.
9. Cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling
These cancellation and rescheduling rules protect time spent on planning and income lost when a guiding date is reserved. They do not provide free cancellation or free rescheduling. The applicable cancellation calculation must be disclosed before a booking is accepted.
Cancel or request changes in writing. Contact TLD using the email address in Section 20 and identify the booking. A date change, postponement, reduction in duration, or reduction in group size is effective only when accepted in writing. Unless a change is agreed, the original booking remains in place. If the client cannot proceed on the agreed terms, the cancellation rules apply to the affected services.
Planning is paid work. Research and itinerary work properly completed under the agreed scope remains payable even if the client decides not to take a guided tour, changes preferences, or does not use the recommendations. Once the agreed planning package has been delivered, changing one’s mind does not by itself entitle the client to a refund. If planning is stopped before completion, TLD will identify the work completed and the amount properly earned under the agreed scope; any unearned balance and any lawful cancellation charge must be accounted for separately. Payment is not automatically fully earned merely because work has started.
Reserved guiding time has a real cost. Customer cancellations and no-shows may incur a charge up to the full agreed guiding fee, subject to the legal limit below. TLD reserves dates for confirmed clients and may decline other work. The applicable cancellation calculation and maximum exposure will be explained before the booking is accepted.
The charge will reflect the average loss ordinarily arising from cancellation of TLD’s comparable bookings at the relevant notice and in the relevant circumstances. This may include ordinary lost net guiding income and authorized nonrecoverable expenses, with appropriate account taken of saved costs and replacement-booking opportunities or income. Charges will not double count the same loss or exceed the limit imposed by Japan’s Consumer Contract Act or another applicable law. TLD will explain the basis of a requested charge and provide information as required by law.
No-shows, late arrival, and early departure. Clients must arrive at the agreed meeting place on time and remain contactable through the agreed channel. If the guide is present and available, client lateness does not automatically move the end time or entitle the client to free additional guiding. Voluntarily leaving early or choosing not to use agreed available guiding time does not by itself create a refund right. A failure to attend or contact the guide will be handled under the disclosed cancellation arrangements; it is not an automatic forfeiture regardless of the circumstances. Any charge remains subject to applicable law.
Rescheduling requires agreement. TLD is not obliged to hold a second date or move a booking without considering availability and the loss caused to the original reservation. Any credit, original-date cancellation charge, and additional work must be stated in the written rescheduling agreement. The same loss cannot be charged twice. New preferences and itinerary revisions are paid additional planning under Section 6.
Client circumstances and third-party costs. Changes of mind, travel delays, illness, visa issues, or a change in personal circumstances do not automatically make completed work or reserved time refundable. Statutory rights and the lawful limits above still apply. Authorized venue, ticket, transport, and accommodation costs follow the relevant provider’s disclosed conditions; only genuine unrecoverable amounts may be treated as unrecoverable, and TLD remains responsible for its own obligations.
If TLD cannot provide the service. If illness, an emergency, or another issue on TLD’s side prevents guiding, the client may accept an agreed alternative or receive a refund for guiding not provided. Properly completed, usable planning is assessed separately from unperformed work, rather than automatically forfeiting the entire planning fee. Mandatory rights to refunds, cancellation, damages, or other remedies are preserved.
Accounting for payments. Advance payments must be credited against completed services and any valid, agreed charges. Any balance owed to the client must be returned. Dissatisfaction based only on a personal preference does not automatically create a refund entitlement where the agreed service was properly provided; misrepresentation, deficient performance, and other lawful remedies remain unaffected.
These rules and the service-specific cancellation calculation must be disclosed and accepted before a paid booking is confirmed. They do not impose new charges retroactively on an existing agreement.
10. Guest conduct and venue rules
Clients must follow Japanese law, the agreed itinerary and service boundaries, reasonable safety instructions, and venue admission and conduct rules. Respect consent, privacy, staff, performers, the guide, and other guests. Do not harass, threaten, touch without consent, record where prohibited, request illegal activity or personal sexual services, or become intoxicated to the point that the experience cannot be conducted safely.
TLD may refuse an unagreed or unlawful request. Where conduct creates a serious safety risk, involves harassment, threats, unlawful activity, or a serious boundary violation, the guide may stop the experience immediately and leave the situation. A warning may be given where practical and safe; the guide is not required to remain exposed to danger or harassment.
Ending an experience because of a client’s serious breach does not make properly delivered services free. Charges for services supplied, time properly held available, and any lawful agreed cancellation loss may remain payable, without double counting. It does not automatically permit keeping every payment. The client agreement, Section 9, and mandatory consumer rights determine the financial outcome.
11. Intellectual property
TLD’s original writing, interviews, branding, designs, photographs, and other original work may be protected by copyright and related rights. Third-party photographs, embedded media, and submitted materials remain subject to their respective owners’ rights. We do not claim ownership of all media shown on this site.
You may browse for personal use, share links, and make lawful quotations or other uses permitted by law. Obtain the relevant permission before commercially republishing or reproducing protected material beyond what the law or an express license permits. Attribution alone does not replace required permission.
12. Event and editorial submissions
You may send story pitches, event details, venue information, and proposed materials through our Contact form. You must have the necessary rights and permissions to submit them and should avoid sending unnecessary personal information about other people.
Submission permits TLD to receive and review the material and discuss its possible use with you. Publication, substantive editing, reuse, and any agreed credit or payment will be settled separately before accepted material is published. You retain your rights; a submission does not transfer ownership or grant unrestricted reuse.
We may decline, verify, or request changes to a submission. Sending an event or pitch does not guarantee coverage, publication, promotion, or a response by a particular date.
13. Acceptable website use
Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with site security or operation, distribute malicious content or spam, impersonate others, harass people, or use the site unlawfully. Do not scrape or reuse content in a way that infringes applicable law or another person’s rights. These restrictions do not prevent ordinary lawful browsing, link sharing, research, or quotation.
14. External links and third-party services
Links may take you to venues, organizers, ticket sellers, social platforms, publications, newsletter services, or other independent providers. Their terms and privacy policies govern their services. We do not control those sites. Check the destination and relevant conditions before submitting information or paying. Any later payment arrangement will identify the payment method separately.
15. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle inquiries, client information, newsletter subscriptions, technical records, and third-party services. A service inquiry does not subscribe you to the newsletter.
16. Changes to services and content
We may update editorial content, services, prices, and website features. The quotation and terms agreed for an existing booking continue to apply unless a change is validly agreed or permitted by applicable law. A general website update does not automatically rewrite an existing client contract.
17. Liability and legal rights
TLD remains responsible for its obligations under applicable law and the agreed service contract. Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, including protections under Japan’s Consumer Contract Act.
We do not guarantee every third-party experience or uninterrupted website access. Any assessment of responsibility for loss must consider the actual circumstances and applicable law. These Terms do not contain a blanket waiver for injury, negligence, intentional misconduct, or gross negligence, and they do not remove mandatory consumer rights.
18. Applicable law and disputes
TLD operates in Japan. Japanese law applies to these Terms to the extent a governing-law choice is permitted. This does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protections that apply under another relevant law.
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve concerns. This does not prevent you from seeking a regulator’s help or using any court or other remedy available under applicable law. These Terms impose neither mandatory arbitration nor an exclusive court requirement that would override consumer protections.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The approved page will show its Last Updated date. Where notice or agreement is required by law or an existing contract, we will follow that requirement. We do not claim that every visitor receives an individual update notice.
