Tokyo’s infamous underground art exhibition “下品で最低” (Gehisai) returns for its ninth installment this April in Harajuku.
The adults-only exhibition brings together a wide range of independent artists showcasing intentionally vulgar, absurd, erotic, and humorous works that celebrate the chaotic side of creative expression. Organizers describe the show as an exhibition of things you “could never tell your parents about,” blending crude humor with bizarre artistic imagination.
Visitors must be 18 or older and will be required to sign a consent form acknowledging the nature of the exhibition upon entry.
The event takes place at Design Festa Gallery, one of Tokyo’s most well-known venues for independent and experimental art.
